About SIDO

The Italian Society of Orthodontics (SIDO), a non-profit scientific association based in Milan, was founded in 1968 by a group of professional scholars who believed that the orthodontic discipline could play a fundamental role in achieving and maintaining a state of health and well-being by solving functional and aesthetic problems.

The main objective of the Italian Society of Orthodontics is the development of the orthodontic culture as part of the medical and dental disciplines.

This objective is pursued by involving all SIDO members in a constant co-operation with the Italian Universities and in the various activities of the Society such as meetings, congresses, refresher courses, scientific publications, panel discussions with representatives of prestigious international schools SIDO is also one of the founding Societies of the Foederatio Europea Ortodontica (FEO) and is a Charter Member of the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO). SIDO also organizes the Mediterranean Orthodontic Integration Project (MOIP) network. This important recognition proves that the prestigious role played by SIDO is nationally and internationally appreciated both on the scientific and on the professional level, as the increasing foreign attendance at the SIDO meetings seems to confirm.
