About SIDO

The Italian Society of Orthodontics (SIDO), a non-profit scientific association based in Milan, was founded in 1968 by a group of professional scholars who believed that the orthodontic discipline could play a fundamental role in achieving and maintaining a state of health and well-being by solving functional and aesthetic problems.

The main objective of the Italian Society of Orthodontics is the development of the orthodontic culture as part of the medical and dental disciplines.

This objective is pursued by involving all SIDO members in a constant co-operation with the Italian Universities and in the various activities of the Society such as meetings, congresses, refresher courses, scientific publications, panel discussions with representatives of prestigious international schools SIDO is also one of the founding Societies of the Foederatio Europea Ortodontica (FEO) and is a Charter Member of the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO). SIDO also organizes the Mediterranean Orthodontic Integration Project (MOIP) network. This important recognition proves that the prestigious role played by SIDO is nationally and internationally appreciated both on the scientific and on the professional level, as the increasing foreign attendance at the SIDO meetings seems to confirm.

About Progress in Orthodontics

Progress in Orthodontics is published to bring the advances in Mediterranean orthodontics to an international forum. It is published in May and in November, two issues per year. Progress in Orthodontics will consider for publication only meritorious and original contributions. These may be one of the following:

  • original articles reporting the findings of clinical trials, clinically relevant basic scientific investigations or novel therapeutic or diagnostic systems;
  • review articles on current topics;
  • techniques or case reports of unusual cases, novel clinical tools or exceptional levels of clinical competence may be considered;
  • article of contemporary interest.
